Learning from life
Yesterday I turned 64. My partner Girlie conspired with friends to organize a surprise party. The band played a lot of Beatles and we danced till midnight. I quoted some aphorisms I remember from a little book on life time growth:
Make your future bigger than your past.
Make your learning greater than your experience.
Make your questions bigger than your answers.
From time to time, friends have urged me: Why not start blogging? That way we can exchange whatever we have learned from our life, about life.
I thought, why not? There are lessons life has taught me that others may find interesting. Besides, at the Education for Life Foundation, I help design and facilitate life history workshops, kwentong buhay, where we ask participants to reflect on their lives and discuss what they have learned from their achievements and disappointments. That’s in the spirit of our philosophy of education - hango sa buhay, tungo sa buhay. That’s “learning from life, for life” in our native Filipino language.
I tried blogging once. But didn’t post regularly.
This afternoon at a forum, a young man asked me: Do you blog? I said I don’t. You should, he said. More and more young Filipinos are into it, but not too many older persons.
So what do you recommend I use? Try WordPress. It’s easy.
Thanks for pushing me into this, Raymond Palatino.

Hi Ed,
I will try to join you in this new form of spreading thoughts and ideas. Didn´t get the chance to talk with you at the awe meeting in dk in may, but I have rised the question about cooperation and development together with you and your countrymen and there is an obvious interest.
I´ll return to the matter via e-mail soon.
Henrik
ps Congratulations!!! How does it feel “when your 64r” as the Beatles sung way back in the 60-ties? Just curious….

Hi Ed and Girlie,
Long time…since the 80ies I think. You can’t be 64!? But Siokoy and I are now 50- but no longer together since way back.
I’m in Zambia working for UNICEF. Would love to hear from you again!
Big hug to both of you,
Lotta

My Friend,
September is here, the autumn is giving it´s firts arrival signs and the school year has started. We are in a big, really huge phase of transformation, the Cityfolkhighschool has been swallowed by a brand new construction called Axxell. It´s a form of hybrid scholl with both vocational and adult education, with school buildings all around the swedish speaking parts of Finland ( appr. 400 km between the two located furthest apart. The administration will be streamlined and I suppose there will be some changes in the staff…… so the near future can bring a lot of changes, not necessarily positive ones
Anyway, I/we are still working on developing teh AWE-information. I´ve been in contact with Jakob/ as a matter of fact I met him a week ago in Copenhagen and we set up a time schedule with deadline for the new site before the end of the year.
I also attend a 3 years PD course with 12 other people from the liberal adult field of education. We have been talking about making a joint study trip somewhere abroad and Martin and I have suggested the Philliphines….
greetings
Henrik
